Getting Started with Video: Send Personal Gratitude Videos

As a financial advisor, building and maintaining strong relationships with your clients, prospects, and Centers of Influence (COIs) is key to your success. One way to show your appreciation and strengthen these relationships is by sending simple gratitude videos using a tool like BombBomb (funny name, I know!). 💣 💣

This is a great way to start each week as these videos always surprise and delight the recipient. As a result, it highlights the benefits of easy and authentic video and allows you to practice getting comfortable in front of the camera.

These videos should only be 30-60 seconds so it’ll only take a minute or two of your time each week.

Here’s why BombBomb is my go-to for 1:1 video emails – and for sending video messages via LinkedIn messenger.

Pros
  • It integrates seamlessly with Gmail and Outlook, doing everything you need without leaving your inbox.
  • It also integrates seamlessly with LinkedIn via the BombBomb Google Chrome Extension and BombBomb Microsoft Edge Extension
  • It has good iOS and Android apps to easily record and share videos straight from your smartphone
  • You can easily add a CTA (call to action) to each video – e.g. Schedule a call, complete a form, learn more, etc. Each video can have a different CTA.
  • It automatically shows the length of the video – e.g. ‘Play 38-second video’ – so recipients know that it’s a short and sweet message
  • When people click to view, you can have a nice, clean, white-labeled page. You can also have a permanent CTA (e.g. Schedule a call) in the upper right-hand corner.
  • You can easily see how many times your video has been viewed, what % of the video was viewed, whether it included a video-specific CTA and how many times that CTA was clicked.

Cons
  • No good way for people to respond on the video page
  • It’s possible to allow comments but if you send a video to more than one person, there’s no way to know who responded
  • You can also allow response by video, but they have to have or create an account
  • The upside is, the best action is to follow your CTA!
  • The price could be a con but if you get in the habit of regularly sending 1:1 video messages, just one new client per year more than pays for it

Pricing
  • You can try it for free for 14 days. No credit card required.

Here’s how to get started with BombBomb and start sending gratitude videos to your clients:
  • Sign up for a BombBomb account. You can choose from a variety of pricing plans depending on your needs. I’ve always used the lowest-tier Essentials plan.
  • Create a short list of people to start with. This might be friends, family and colleagues while you get used to sending video emails and begin to see the impact that these surprise gratitude videos can have!
  • Open your email (Gmail or Outlook), start a new message, and click the BombBomb icon.
  • This will open a window for recording and will automatically populate the Subject from your email (if you already had one). Make sure the correct camera and microphone are selected using the Settings wheel in the bottom right.
  • Record your gratitude video. Keep the video short and to the point – around 30 seconds is a good length. Simply let the recipient know how much they mean to you and how much you appreciate them.
  • Once you’re done recording, you’ll be able to add a video-specific CTA in the bottom right. This can be the same or different from the permanent CTA that’s on your white labeled video landing page (the page that recipients see when they click on your video).
  • Once you click Save in the upper right, the video will automatically populate in your email and it will show the first few seconds of the video (no audio) as an animated GIF.
  • You’re now ready to send the message and track engagement. BombBomb provides detailed analytics on how many people have viewed your video, how long they watched it for, and whether they took any actions (e.g. clicking on a link). You can use this data to see how effective your gratitude videos are and adjust your strategy as needed.

Benefits of Using BombBomb for Financial Advisors

There are several benefits to using BombBomb as a financial advisor to send personal videos to your clients:

  • Personalization: By showing your face and speaking directly to your clients and prospects, you can create a more personal and authentic connection with them. This helps build trust and strengthen your relationships.
  • Engagement: Video has been shown to be more engaging than other forms of communication, such as text or email. By sending personal videos, you may be more likely to hold your client’s attention and encourage them to take action (e.g. schedule a meeting or refer you to a friend).
  • Convenience: BombBomb makes it easy to send video messages without the need to schedule a call or meet in person. This can save you time and make it more convenient for you and your clients and prospects.
  • Analytics: BombBomb provides detailed analytics on the engagement of your videos, allowing you to see how effective your videos are and make any necessary adjustments.

Overall, using BombBomb to send personal videos can be a powerful way for you to build and maintain strong relationships with your clients. Give it a try – feel free to send me a test video! – and see the positive impact it can have on your business.
